David Eastman
Biogrpahy:David is a conservative legislator representing the rural Mat-Su Valley. He ran on a platform of fighting for genuine conservative reform, fiscally and socially, and remains committed to delivering on that promise. David, the son of an entrepreneur and small business owner in Orange County, California, is the first member of his family ever to have served in elected office and is one of two military veterans currently serving in the Alaska House of Representatives. Pursuing his lifelong dream of becoming an Alaskan, he chose the Last Frontier. He believes that our constitutional form of self-government requires the ceaseless vigilance of the people in every step of our lawmaking process. He has been a member of the Alaska law enforcement community since 2003. When he is not serving in legislative sessions that now exceed 200 days a year, he serves as a member of the AK-1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team and as a firefighter and emergency responder for the Mat-Su Borough. He lives in Wasilla with his wife Jennifer and their two daughters.
Education:Studied law at West Point, and after graduating was given his first choice of military assignments.
Military Service:As a Military Police Captain stationed at Fort Richardson from 2003-2011, he prepared soldiers for deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and himself led troops in Afghanistan. His military assignments included serving as Provost Marshal of Camp Eggers in Kabul, Afghanistan, as a Summary Court Martial Judge for the Alaska Military Police Battalion, and as the Armed Forces Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection Branch Chief for the 56th Presidential Inauguration in Washington DC.
Political History:House District 10 touches Wasilla, Meadow Lakes, Houston, Willow, Caswell, Talkeetna, Trapper Creek, Chase, Petersville, Skwentna, and other rural communities in the Mat-Su.
He currently works on the following committees in the legislature: Legislative Council Select Committee on Legislative Ethics House Rules, House Judiciary, House Fisheries, House Health and Social Services
